Gamma Shard Review - July 2019
The SHARD Paddle by Gamma Pickleball is a great looking (we have the Yellow model pictured below) paddle that weighs in at 7.75 oz. and has a grip size of 4 1/8 inches. The SHARD is a great paddle for players that like a small grip and handle. The GAMMA Honeycomb Grip has perforations that provide a great feel - softness without slipping - an outstanding grip when you have sweaty hands.

The SHARD is a thicker paddle than earlier generation Gamma paddles. The new textured graphite surface provides a soft touch and quick response that also can produce power when needed. The texture makes spin easier to achieve and blocking can be done with finesse.

  • The SHARD is very quiet. I like the light weight and small grip. The SHARD is very well balanced and I was used to the feel immediately. ~Mary
  • The SHARD gives me a feeling of control. I can easily dink and hit hard shots. I think I’ll get one for me too. ~Ron
  • The SHARD has a nice sweet spot! I love the control and touch. The weight and balance are perfect. I definitely recommend it. ~Liz
  • The SHARD has a good mix of control and power with the ease of adding spin. ~Allen
  • I like everything about the way the SHARD paddle plays. When I tried it, I added a Gamma Supreme Overgrip – the increase in grip size was perfect for me. I’m sold on this paddle. ~Tommy

Poach Advantage Review - March 2018
The Poach Advantage Paddle by Engage Pickleball is an attractive paddle and plays at about 7.5 ounces. It is a great paddle for players that like a small to medium grip and handle. The Poach Advantage allows you to feel the ball when dinking as well as make controlled power shots. The paddle provides a soft touch and control and prefect for players that don't rely on a power game. A larger sweet spot is immediately obvious when playing.Four advanced level players, two women and two men, tried out the Poach Advantage. All the players had positive comments about the paddle and loved the control, touch, and sweet spotThe women appreciated the lighter weight and smaller handle/grip. The grip felt great. They felt the paddle gave them control, improved touch, and felt like using spin or retuning spin was easier with the Poach Advantage. Dinking was easier too. The men both liked the feel of control and the responsiveness of the paddle. They were able to back off their power game effectively while adding more touch and spin control to their game. One man felt that if he owned it he would add an overgrip to increase the grip size. Thanks to Pickleball Central for providing a demo Poach Advantage paddle!
